Innovation and Evolution: The New Volvo EX90
Volvo continues to bring novel powertrains and innovative technologies to its current and future line-up of vehicles. Popular models like the new XC40 extol the fact, and it should be noted that the manufacturer has no plans of slowing down its genius engineering.
We've received some news about the coming Volvo EX90, an SUV that shares a striking resemblance to the XC90 in several ways. In fact, to the untrained eye, the vehicle looks the exact same; however - the 2024 Volvo EX90 will feature an all-electric powertrain and other technologies facets.
Powertrain and Drivability
So far, we know that the Volvo EX90 will host dual-motor capabilities and all-wheel drive configurations. With one motor at the front and the other in the rear, the vehicle is supported by plenty of power. Additionally, the motors pull from a 111.0 kWh battery pack producing 496 horsepower and 671 pound-feet of torque. Noting the ardor of the previous model, Lancaster drivers can expect the new SUV to provide them with fantastic acceleration and superior handling. We also expect the EX90 to be well-equipped with the previous model's suspension system and precise control.
Regarding range, the EX90 will deliver up to 300 miles on a single charge. Fast charging will also be standard, with the manufacturer stating that the vehicle can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 30 minutes. This will surely save Lititz customers both time and money, allowing drivers to cover long distances and vacations without worry.
Trim-level specifications have yet to release; however, we know of an E2 model that will produce 402 horsepower and 586 pound-feet of torque.
Safety and Technology
Driving a Volvo means immersing yourself in an array of safety configurations, and the Volvo EX90 brings the definition of safety to the forefront. In fact, the sheer number of safety features within the EX90 is overwhelming, in a fantastic way. Moreover, they are futuristic, with Volvo stating that the model is the safest car they have created.
The SUV casts an invisible net around the vehicle and its passengers. Impacting both drivers and onlookers, an array of cameras, sensors, and radars continuously scan around the car. Working together to create a '360 degree view of the world', as said by the manufacturer - the invisible net is incredible technology, and this is just the beginning. Volvo has also stated that the EX90 is the first model that is hardware ready for autonomous driving.
Technology present in the interior is immersive and sophisticated, and the cabin space is decorated with authentic Scandinavian elements. The EX90 features the same spacious, grand seats as the XC90 with an innovative touch. A 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system present in the center of the dashboard hosts an adaptive version of Google's Android software. Volvo guarantees that the system will be lightning-fast, with smooth functionality. Similar to the previous system we see in the current models, Ephrata drivers are capable of bypassing the Google software to use Apple CarPlay if desired.
